The final installment will be required 30 days prior to the event. Making smaller partial payments of any amount to create your own payment plan is welcome as long as the specified due dates are met in your contract. Full payment is due by the specified due date. We also require a credit card on file for any damages to the facility or grounds. There is no security deposit due upon signing contract.

  • That is a great question! In general, we believe the average budget of a couple getting married at Le Lieu is between $15,000-$50,000 for all wedding expenses (venue, food, dress, DJ, photographer, etc.). Creative couples with smaller guests lists can host beautiful weddings below $15,000.

  • No, the rental fee is the same. We do not charge extra for a ceremony. We allow for you to have a 30 minute ceremony added to your reception time of 4 hours. We will do a partial flip for a California style wedding inside Le Lieu for no additional charge if ceremony takes place inside Le Lieu.

  • We are dog friendly, with some specific stipulations. Dogs are allowed (only with pre-approval by the owner, Christian Hanley ) at the ceremony and pictures, not the reception time. Animals are NOT allowed under roof for reception or near the food. If dogs are on-site for ceremony or pictures, they must be on a leash at all times.

  • This is a great question. We consider our space a cocktail style reception space for events requiring dance floor space. What does this mean for my event? We can seat approximately 120 people leaving room for standing room, cocktail tables, and a dance floor. If however you do not need a dance floor area, then additional table and chairs can be brought in to seat up to 175 with room to sit 25 more at bistro tables outside, allowing you to have a seat for 200 people. If you need to seat more, we require you to rent a tent. There is location we recommend tent set up to accommodate more guests. We can make affordable recommendations for tent set up.

Decorations

  • Our team sets up tables and chairs and furniture accordingly to your all-seated floor plan given to our team 30 days prior to your wedding date. You will receive a list in your contract of the inventory included in rental. Our brides get to customize their own floor plan and we set it up for you before you arrive. Our team handles all the inventory. We ask that it is NOT moved once set up is done for you. But in the event something needs to change then our team member is there on site for you. We are there to facilitate you in achieving your vision. You or your vendors are welcome to bring in your own things. You are responsible for removing those items at the end of the night.

  • You will have access to the venue at the time listed on your contract, not earlier. Please plan accordingly! For example Friday and Saturday weddings get access at 9 am while that will differ from a week day rental, week day wedding or a Sunday wedding.

  • These items are not kept on site at Le Lieu and exclusive to our booked couples for weddings. There are many perks that come with our wedding pricing page so we do not offer these items for other events or for outside use. Our brides have the option to add any of these items at the last minute as we know brides can change their minds and want to add items so we give them the flexibility to be able to do just that as their wedding day is so important to each couple.

  • Those items that are rented from us are pulled out by our team and delivered to Le Lieu for you and your decorators to utilize in your own personal way, we do not have those items set up as part of the all-seated plan layout or as part of the online planner, as the something borrowed page is ever changing and growing and not part of the permanent inventory inside Le Lieu.

  • Please see our venue details page to find pictures of our inventory that comes standard with all rentals.

  • We do have a something borrowed page and as that page grows and changes pictures are available for you to choose decor that you want to add to your package. These items are for rental only. Why is there a up charge on these items from the something borrowed page? Our team members must box them and deliver items to Le Lieu, and pack up and return to storage. The rental fee is to cover the labor overhead for this extra service as not all brides want the same look so we store some things off-site.

  • Due to the historical nature of the venue we do NOT allow any nails or adhesive of any kind. Nothing can be adhered or attached to brick or plaster walls. The decorations that you bring in must be freestanding. The beams at Le Lieu are very high, not accessible with a ladder, for this reason we don’t allow renters to hang anything from the beams. We hope you find the grandeur of the tall ceiling and brick arches beautiful without the extra work required to hang from the beams. The only exception to this house rule is if an experienced Licensed Decorator has the ability to hang from the beams and this must be pre-approved by owner in order for the application of anything to be hung from beams.

Bar Service & Catering

  • We encourage our brides to bring in the caterers of their choice. They must be licensed and insured. Ask us and we will be glad to make recommendations for you.

  • Brides are welcome to bring in the caterers of their choice. All caterers are required to be Licensed in Louisiana and Insured.

  • No, we do not at this time have preferred or exclusive caterers. Initially we intend to allow outside catering chosen by our brides as long as the caterers hired adhere to the house rules for Le Lieu. We want to develop relationships with caterers in our area before developing a preferred list. We do not charge a kitchen fee, but we require catering to leave the kitchen in the same clean state they found it. They are required to provide a full staff. We absolutely give our brides recommendations but we encourage you to do your own research for caterers that fit your needs and your budget. Don't discount the fact that all of the vendors that you choose you'll work with a lot leading up to the big day. It's important to actually like your vendors! So our recommendations over time, as we grow to get to know caterers, will purposely be small business owners that are invested in your day as much as we are. We support small business owners and can give you recommendations on great catering teams.

  • No. Many venues have minimums because they make a 10 - 15% commission from the caterer based on how much you spend on food and drinks. We choose NOT to make a commission because we want our food options to be as elegant or affordable as your budget allows, and therefore we don't have a food minimum. Our bar prices will be based on consumption and not a guest count minimum, however we do need an accurate guest to order for your event. We do have a minimum for gratuity for our bartenders.

  • Yes, you are required to use our in-house bar service. Why? It's actually against the law in Louisiana for Le Lieu to allow any outside alcohol into our facility. Our prices are based on consumption and is structured with flexibility in your selections so it can be as budget conscious or as lavish as you want.

  • The bar service is priced on consumption. Please see bar pricing options here and schedule a tour to learn more.

Planning

  • Unfortunately, if you're trying to compare venues "apples to apples" we feel like this is a tricky question. Our answer is no. We think its possible for the job duties of a "day-of wedding coordinator" to mean something different to you than it does to us, and the last thing we want is the opportunity for miscommunication. However, we do have a team leader here before you arrive onsite who stays with you throughout the duration of your big day. This team leader is here to ensure the vendors are adhering to our contractual house rules. This member of the Le Lieu team is there to help you however they can (be an extra set of hands decorating by helping those you assigned to be your decorator, assist you in taking wedding pictures only if needed, answer questions from your vendors and direct them as necessary, communicate with the required point of contact person, etc.) The team leader’s goal is to do everything possible to help your day go smoothly and ensure your day is as stress-free as possible! (But we still don't consider our team a day-of wedding coordinator or decorators, we leave that to the professionals).

  • Unfortunately we do not allow sparklers. Here’s why? Alcohol & Sparklers don’t go well togther.

  • Yes, we allow cold sparks outside only. A powder residue from cold spark machine can be left behind so it’s not allowed inside Le Leiu. We require your cold spark vendor to be licensed and insured. We have some great vendors if you choose cold sparks.

  • "Le" is pronounced most like luh, like Le in LeBron James.

"Lieu"is pronounced most like L as in look and ieu as ue, like in Blue.

  • We are thrilled to introduce The Bastille! French for “the Jailhouse”, we are dedicated to the full restoration of this iconic and historical structure. More to come! Stay tuned for updates.

  • Honestly, my husband and I acted on faith. We felt lead by the Holy Spirit to renovate this specific landmark as a wedding venue. The 100 year old building itself is inspiring with her beautiful architecture and history, but after much prayer it seemed to us that grew into our dream. I have always loved weddings and hosting beautiful celebrations at our home. Once our oldest daughter got married, the doors began to open and we chose to follow the inital calling we felt that God had laid on our hearts years before and Le Lieu began to become a reality.

  • Le Lieu is a 100 year old landmark and holds so much history in her walls. This magnificent building has been a cornerstone of our community's history, originally serving as the light and water plant built in 1928. She also housed the police station, the fire station along with the jailhouse, all within her storied walls. This buildings enduring presence has woven itself into the fabric of our town. In a time where we as a culture are accustomed to fast and cheap, her amazing restoration has been a labor of love exuding grandeur and beautiful architectural details.
